Apple’s AR/VR Mixed Reality Headset Will Bring Virtual Fitness and Gaming to Your Home

Finally, the rumors surrounding Apple’s Mixed Reality headset is beginning to take shape. WWDC 2023 is coming up this June and Apple is getting ready to announce its AR/VR headset at the event. Apple’s aim is to attract as many as possible users to this new platform. Hence, the company is working around the clock to make the app experience appealing to everyone. A report from Bloomberg suggests that Apple is currently working on dedicated sports apps, gaming apps, wellness and collaboration apps for the upcoming device.

Initial reports suggesting that Apple was working on a special app store for the headset turned out to be null. New reports say that the company will rather adapt iPad apps on the new headset. Users will be able to access the content of the app store through the 3D interface of the headset.

Apple will also optimize its own apps such as Safari, Calendar, Contacts, Home, Files, Messages, Notes, Photos, Music, Reminders and others for the Mixed reality headset. The device will be able to perform multi-tasking, allowing more apps to run at the same time. There will also be geological aspects which will swap between apps when the user happens to be in a different room.

The device will come with the Fitness+ app which will allow the user to exercise while watching the fitness instructor in the virtual world. You also get to use the Health app which will guide you through meditation. This works with graphics, sound as well as voice overs. The Headset will also allow users to dive into immersive viewing experience for MLB and MLS content. Users who also want to enjoy virtual reality videos can do so using the dedicated TV app.

Other Features of the Apple Mixed Reality Headset

The Mixed Reality headset from Apple will come with a dedicated FaceTime app that will use Memoji-like avatars. It will also include virtual meeting rooms as well as a redesigned Books app for reading books in the virtual world. There is a camera app that will allow users take pictures by using the cameras on the headset. Users who make use of Freeform to work on collaborative projects with others can also make good use of the dedicated Freeform app with 3D interface within the virtual environment.

Earlier reports suggested that Apple was working with some game developers to develop games for its Mixed Reality headset. Most of these developers have already optimized some of their existing games for the headset. As time goes on, more games will show up on the platform. Apple has also provided enough tools to help developers create AR/VR experiences.

Price of the Apple AR/VR Mixed Reality Headset

Apple’s Mixed reality headset may not come cheap as reports say. The headset will come with a price tag of $3,000 and the company has targeted a few audiences for the first edition. Sources say that Apple plans on selling just one million copies of it mixed reality headset. This number might sound like a lot but for a company like Apple, it is not that much.
