Here’s One Big Reason Why You Should Not Buy the OnePlus Pad

OnePlus Pad

Do not get me wrong, OnePlus Pad has a lot of good aspects. For example, the tablet comes with a great 144Hz display, a capable processor, and a big battery packed inside. But if you are looking forward to getting it, you might not notice one big flaw before adding it to your cart. That is, the tablet does not come with any form of secure biometrics.

Yes, the OnePlus Pad does not have a fingerprint sensor, nor does it have a proper alternative. On paper, the tablet is a solid competitor against the best Android tablets out there. As mentioned earlier, it has some good specs. But the lack of biometrics could be a deal breaker for you.

Why OnePlus Pad Does Not Have Any Form of Secure Biometrics

It goes without saying that biometrics has become a must-have for modern smartphones. After all, it is pretty easy for a thief to see a lock screen password and gain full access to your device after snatching it away. While fingerprint sensors are the most common secure biometrics, you will not find one in the OnePlus Pad.

And secure biometrics does not only keep thieves locked out of your device when it gets stolen. It also helps to secure apps and keep sensitive data safe. So, OnePlus skipping this one crucial feature from the Pad could make potential customers look for alternatives.

Wondering what does OnePlus have to say about it? In a statement to 9to5Google, OnePlus claimed that an in-display fingerprint sensor does not seem natural. Moreover, OnePlus reasoned that a side-mounted fingerprint sensor “is not efficient.” For that reason, the OnePlus Pad does not include either of them.

Although, the OnePlus Pad does have a face unlock feature. But in comparison, it is elementary and can not be fully relied upon. That said, at the end of the day, it is your call whether you think a secure form of biometrics on a tablet is a vital feature to you or not.
