Supplier Shares Vital Information About the First Xiaomi Car

Xiaomi announced its entry into the automobile industry in March 2021. Since then, fans have patiently waited for the official launch announcement. This anticipation brought out a lot of rumors and speculations. But only a few of them had credible sources. Well, the wait for the debut time frame announcement of the first Xiaomi car is finally over!

Fuwei Automotive Parts Co. (FAW), an automotive supplier based in Changchun, has confirmed some vital information about the Xiaomi car. According to the supplier, the pricing of the Xiaomi vehicle has been finalized. And the car is set to debut next year.

Even though the supplier has confirmed that the pricing of the Xiaomi car has been finalized, we did not get any numbers. Earlier, social media leaks hinted that the starting price of the vehicle would be 149,900 yuan. That converts to around $20,777.

In comparison, Tesla Model 3, the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle, starts at $35,000. But, Wang Hua, Xiaomi’s head of public relations, clarified that the pricing rumor of the Xiaomi car was false. Thus, it remains unclear if Xiaomi’s vehicle will be more affordable than Tesla’s Model 3.

But the good news is that Lu Weibing, the partner and president of Xiaomi, shared that the car project is progressing smoothly. And in May of this year, Lu said that the vehicle had entered an accelerated development stage. Also, in January of this year, the Xiaomi car was spotted in a snow test run.
