A few years ago, Huawei was cut off from the global supply chain due to the U.S. sanctions. For that reason, the Chinese company had to find home-grown alternatives to get all the parts needed for manufacturing its smartphones. And just recently, the company shook the world by integrating a home-grown SoC in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro.

But it’s not just the Kirin 9000S chipset that’s impressive about the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. In addition to that, the Chinese brand has updated the display protection tech. That is, the device comes with an upgraded version of the Kunlun Glass. Now the elephant of the room is, how does the 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass hold up against the competition? We finally got the answer.

The drop test performed on the Huawei Mate 60 Pro shows promising results. And you should note that the device was in its naked form during the test. That is, the plastic protector that ships with the device was removed before the test. Another thing to note is that the device has a quad-curved display.

That means the bezels of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro offer little to no protection against drops. Also, as you can see from the video I’ve embedded below, the test is pretty informal. It includes running the phone over with a car, which is certainly not a standard procedure for testing the durability of phones.

But even so, the phone held up impressively well. This demonstrates that the Mate 60 Pro’s 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass is on par with other competing solutions. However, you should still use a screen protector and a protective cover on your phone. These two will help to keep the device in its pristine form.
