OnePlus Open foldable smartphone displayed in live videos

OnePlus is taking a unique approach to unveiling its upcoming foldable device in India. Rather than a traditional social media announcement, the company has provided a prototype of the device to popular Indian actress Anushka Sharma. Sharma has been spotted “inadvertently” displaying the device in two separate videos, which have been published by several photographers.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and can have up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The OnePlus Open also has a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera. It has a 4,800mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Gizchina News of the week

OnePlus has said that the OnePlus Open is a “representation of the brand’s openness to all possibilities,” and that it is set to “redefine the concept of foldable smartphones by delivering all-round flagship-level experiences in a compact foldable form factor.”

The smartphone will launch in India next month. Fans of the brand can anticipate the unveiling of this anticipated foldable device in the coming weeks.

Unconventional Unveiling Strategy

OnePlus‘s unconventional approach to unveiling the OnePlus Open has generated attention, but it has also raised some questions. Some have criticized the company for using a celebrity to promote its product in a staged manner. Others have questioned whether the device shown in the videos is a functional prototype or simply a dummy.

Despite the criticism, OnePlus’s strategy has certainly succeeded in generating buzz around the OnePlus Open. It remains to see whether the device will live up to the hype, but one thing is for sure: OnePlus is not afraid to take risks.
