Xiaomi has officially announced the successor to its current UI, MIUI, with the introduction of Xiaomi HyperOS, putting an end to the rumors.

Reports had been talking about a new operating system known as MiOS. And recently, Xiaomi registered trademarks for ‘Xiaomi Pengpai’ and ‘Xiaomi Hyper’. Interestingly, while it’s referred to in English as HyperOS, the Chinese translation labels it as ThePaper OS.

So, in an exciting development, the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, has confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series will be the first to feature this new OS. Production is already underway, marking a significant step in the company’s plans. Furthermore, Lei Jun stated that HyperOS would gradually replace MIUI in older devices that currently run on it.

Additionally, one intriguing aspect is whether Xiaomi is shifting toward an Android version-based OS with HyperOS, similar to ColorOS, OxygenOS, OneUI, and Funtouch OS, which annually upgrade their software while maintaining the latest Android version as their foundation.
