iQOO 12 Goes Official in India With Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The iQOO numbered series got a new flagship smartphone to compete in India. The iQOO 12 debuts today in the country as the first smartphone to bring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the region. The new flagship combines solid specifications and an appealing look. The iQOO 12 is now available in India in the Alpha Black and Legend White colors. The latter marks the return of the partnership with BMW Motorsport branding.

iQOO 12 Specifications and Features

The iQOO 12 lands in India with a 6.78-inch flat LTPO AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate. The panel also has 2160 Hz PWM dimming and a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. It is India’s first smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. To those unaware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be present in a wide array of flagships this year, so iQOO will be able to attract some smartphone fans who are hyping the new chipset. This chipset brings extreme strength for games and all modern tasks, and iQOO is keeping temperatures under control with a large 6,010 mm² ultra-large VC vapor chamber in iQOO’s history. It has 11 temperature sensors to monitor the temperature changes of the entire device in real-time.

The iQOO 12 boasts the Q1 self-developer chip that offers frame sensing technology, real-time load monitoring, and other thermal management features to ensure the best performance with balanced power consumption.

In terms of optics, the device has a 50 MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch main camera. It also has a 50 MP ultrawide shooter, and a 64 MP 3x periscope telephoto camera. The phone brings 2nd gen OIS and enables the user to capture decent low-light shots with great detail. iQOO also delivers a night sky algorithm for the best sky shots. The phone runs Android 14 with FuntouchOS 14 running atop. The iQOO 12 Also boasts a huge 5,000 mAh battery with 120W fast-charging support. The phone also has an infrared sensor and an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. It also has USB Type-C audio, Stereo Speakers, Hi-Fi Audio, and Dust and Splash Resistance (IP64).

The iQOO 12 does impress with its excellent hardware, but also does a great job in its design. The Legend Edition features tricolor patterns that bring a unique look to the new flagship.

Pricing and Availability

The iQOO 12 sells in India in the Legend and Alpha colors. It costs INR 52,999 which covers about $635. The iQOO 12 is landing in India right before the Xiaomi 14 series and the OnePlus 12 which also have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and will likely debut in India soon. With this early release, iQOO can have some advantages over its competitors. The company will give fans the first chance to grab a device with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
