Enhanced Sharing Options: Google Docs Introduces New Dropdown Feature

Google Docs

Google is making it easier and faster to share documents on Docs, Sheets, and Slides, which are popular for working together in real-time.

Now, when you click on “Share,” instead of a pop-up taking over your whole screen, Google is adding a dropdown menu to the button. This menu will show you quick options, such as “pending access requests” and “Copy link.” Google will also tell you who can open the link.

We’re adding a new feature that ensures a seamless sharing experience across Workspace.

Availability of the New Google Docs Feature Google Docs

This change is happening for both Workspace (business) and personal Google accounts, and it will be available in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings.

At the same time, Google Drive is introducing a feature that allows you to share links to specific parts of a video with timestamps. Many companies and schools use Google Drive to store videos meant for internal purposes instead of using YouTube.

To use this feature, open a video and pause it at the specific time you want. Click on the Share button in the top-right corner, and you’ll see a new option in the dropdown called “Copy link to this time.” This feature is currently rolling out and will be available for both free and enterprise accounts on the web.

A New Way to Share Files in Google Drive Google Docs

Finally, for sharing files, soon you’ll be able to easily share files in Google Drive with attendees of a Google Calendar meeting. If you’re the owner or editor of the file, open the Share menu, enter the name of a Calendar event to choose it. Then, confirm that the right list of meeting attendees is added, select the access level for the users, and click “Send.” This feature aims to streamline the process of sharing files related to a calendar event.

With this new feature, users can easily share files with meeting attendees before a meeting, ensuring everyone is prepared and able to collaborate on the same file.
