WhatsApp has rolled out an update for Android users, introducing a convenient navigation bar at the bottom of the app. This new design aims to streamline navigation within the app, making it quicker to access new messages and other features provided by the Meta-owned chat platform. Furthermore, the update follows the Material Design principles on Android, ensuring a cohesive look with the rest of the operating system.
Navigation Bar Finally Available on WhatsApp for Android 
The feature has been in beta testing for a while and is now being officially rolled out to the stable version of WhatsApp, as announced by the company on X. This means that all users will now have access to the smoother navigation experience within the app. The navigation bar had a somewhat turbulent journey to its official release, initially appearing in the app’s beta version in June, disappearing shortly afterward. It resurfaced in September, disappeared again, and finally made a reappearance in the beta channel about a week ago.
The navigation bar includes four tabs: Chats, Updates, Communities, and Calls, representing the main functions of the application. Previously, the menu emphasized Chats, Updates, and Calls more prominently, with Communities being smaller and less noticeable.

WhatsApp characterized the new bottom menu bar as “closer to your thumbs and easy on the eyes,” and I agree. Navigating apps with a bottom menu has become more common, and it’s convenient, especially with larger phones where reaching the top of the screen can be difficult. Having the buttons at the bottom allows for quick and efficient navigation.
WhatsApp users are already experiencing the new menu bar. Simply download the latest version of the app on your device, and you’ll be ready to use it.
Other Features to Expect on WhatsApp 
WhatsApp beta testers have identified some additional new features coming to the app. One of them is a new Suggested Contacts section in the Chats tab, offering a convenient way to discover people you might know (as if we don’t already receive enough messages across various chat apps).
