ChatGPT Free Version No Longer Requires An Account Login

ChatGPT not working

According to the latest announcement from OpenAI, you no longer need to log into your account to use the free version of ChatGPT. That is, you can just visit the website right now and start using the AI assistant.

Before this announcement, ChatGPT would require you to create an account and stay signed in to use AI assistant. Of course, the AI assistant is now in a different stage than it was at launch. Back then, it was a tech demo showcasing the abilities of advanced Large Language Models (LLMs).

Now, it’s more of a polished product, acting more as a comprehensive AI assistant than a tech demo. And with the latest announcement, the free version of ChatGPT will become even easier to access.

But You’re Still Limited to GPT 3.5 on the Free Version of ChatGPT and There’s Additional Content Safeguards

One of the concerns you may have is that kids will be able to use ChatGPT without an account. This would go against the terms of service, so OpenAI has implemented a solution. Even though ChatGPT doesn’t require any account now, it has additional content safeguards.

ChatGPT down - GPT 5

For example, the free and non-account ChatGPT version will block more prompts that it finds unsuitable for answers. It will also block generating responses “in a wider range of categories.” In addition, the non-account version is still limited to GPT 3.5. It’s the same model you get in the free account.

Compared to GPT 4 and other advanced models, GPT 3.5 is known for having a relatively high error rate. So, even though ChatGPT might be more accessible, it’s still not a proper substitute for Google Search.

Copilot

But, yes, with this, OpenAI could possibly get more users to ChatGPT. Also, it now stands comparable to Microsoft Copilot in terms of being easier to access. But again, Microsoft Copilot offers free GPT 4.
