Meizu launch event

Meizu is getting ready for a big launch next week. The company has confirmed it will unveil five smartphones and two smart wearables during an event on May 20. The official teasers were posted on its official X handle. The launch will be livestreamed on Meizu’s official YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok pages, starting at 3PM Beijing time (7AM UTC).

New smartphones coming soon

Some of the phones have already been seen earlier this year. At Mobile World Congress (MWC), Meizu showcased two of them — the Meizu mblu 22 and mblu 22 Pro. These will now officially go on sale as part of Meizu’s budget phone lineup.

The Meizu Note 22, which was teased earlier will join these models. However, the company will also unveil the Meizu Note 22 (again) as well as a new Note 22 5G version, making a total of five smartphones. That makes five smartphones in total expected to launch at the event.

Smart glasses and smart ring also launching

Aside from phones, Meizu is also entering the smart wearable market. The company is launching two new products under its StarV brand:

  • StarV View smart glasses
  • StarV Ring 2 smart ring

The StarV View smart glasses are expected to offer new ways to interact with content, possibly through AR (augmented reality) or smart notifications. The StarV Ring 2 is the second version of Meizu’s smart ring, which likely includes fitness tracking or gesture control features, though specific details are still unknown.

The launch event will be livestreamed, so fans around the world can tune in. Meizu is expected to give full specs, features, and prices for all the new phones and wearables during the presentation.

This marks Meizu’s full return to the smartphone space after a quiet period. With five phones and two wearables ready to go, the brand seems serious about expanding again.

Whether the devices will launch globally or only in China remains to be seen. More details should become clear once the livestream begins on May 20.
