Google has officially launched its new AI Mode in Search. What started as an experiment in March through Google Labs is now becoming a core part of the Google Search experience. Earlier this month, AI Mode became available to all Google Labs users in the U.S. Now, it’s rolling out to all Google Search users across the country.

The rollout begins today but will take a few weeks to reach everyone. Once it arrives, you’ll see a new “AI Mode” tab in Search. It will appear on both desktop and mobile, to the left of the familiar “All” tab.
Google calls AI Mode its “most powerful AI search”. It offers smarter reasoning, handles multiple types of input like text and images, and lets users ask follow-up questions. It also provides direct links to useful web sources. However, Google hasn’t clearly explained what it’s comparing this new mode to.
The company promises more accurate and relevant results. It also says this is the first place where features from Gemini, its AI platform, will appear. Over time, many AI Mode features will become part of regular Google Search. For now, users can still ignore the AI Mode tab if they prefer the old experience.

Google is also introducing a “custom version” of Gemini 2.5 for AI Mode and AI Overviews. One new feature is Deep Search, which can analyze different sources and produce detailed, cited summaries. This could save users hours of research. Still, as with all AI tools, it’s important to verify the information provided.
Another feature is the Live icon. It lets users point their phone cameras at real-world objects and ask questions. This is similar to what Gemini Live offers. AI Mode will also help users book tickets, make reservations, and even shop online. It partners with services like Ticketmaster, StubHub, Resy, and Vagaro. You can even try on clothes virtually and buy them.
AI Mode will also connect to other Google apps, starting with Gmail. It will use your search and email history to offer personalized results and suggestions. It can analyze complex data and create visual reports based on your query.
While AI Mode is now rolling out, some features will appear later through Google Labs. More updates are expected in the coming weeks and months.
