Xiaomi’s Next Foldable is Just Weeks Away—And It’s a Solo Act This Time

XiaomI MIX Flip

Xiaomi is gearing up to release its latest clamshell foldable, the Mix Flip 2, this June. According to a reliable tip from Digital Chat Station, the phone will launch separately from other upcoming Xiaomi hardware, including the Redmi K80 Extreme Edition and a Redmi-branded compact gaming tablet. The timing is tight, but the strategy looks deliberate: Xiaomi wants the Mix Flip 2 to stand alone.

And it will—literally. For 2025, there’s no Mix Fold 4 on the roadmap. This makes the Flip 2 Xiaomi’s only foldable release this year, underscoring a shift in focus, maybe even a quiet realignment of its foldable ambitions.

Specs That Signal Flagship Ambition

At the core of the Mix Flip 2 sits the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm’s latest top-tier chipset. This positions the phone to go head-to-head with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola’s Razr+ 2025—both expected to feature similar silicon.

The Flip 2 will sport a 6.85-inch OLED foldable display, pushing a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. According to leaks, it will be 7.6mm thin when unfolded and weigh just 190 grams—a notable cut in both thickness and weight compared to the original Mix Flip. That should make it one of the most pocket-friendly clamshells on the market.

Cameras, Charging, and Everyday Usability

While clamshells often trade camera quality for compactness, Xiaomi’s betting on a different formula. The Mix Flip 2 is said to feature two 50MP sensors—one wide with OIS, and one ultra-wide. If tuned well, that’s a compelling combo.

The phone has also passed 3C certification in China, confirming its specs aren’t just theoretical. It’s tipped to include a 5,100mAh battery (large by foldable standards), with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging support. That alone puts it ahead of most clamshells in sheer endurance.

Other expected features: NFC, IR blaster, in-screen fingerprint reader, and an IPX8 rating, meaning it should handle water with confidence.

Global Launch? Likely July

Xiaomi will likely unveil the Mix Flip 2 in China first, followed by a global launch in July. The launch may coincide with summer promotional campaigns, where Xiaomi has historically timed hardware debuts outside China.

Meanwhile, the Redmi K80 Ultra—which shares the Snapdragon 8 Elite—will remain China-exclusive, though international buyers may see a rebadged version as the Xiaomi 15T Pro later in Q3.
