Motorola’s next phone for the Indian market is nearly official. The company has just gone live with a new teaser page on Flipkart, and while it avoids naming the device outright, all signs point toward the Motorola Moto G96.
The images on the landing page show just enough—dual rear cameras, a water-resistant chassis, a punchy new color palette, and confirmation of a Snapdragon chipset inside. It’s vague, sure. But not unintentional. We’ve seen this playbook before: tease just enough to stir speculation, let the leaks do the rest.
The Specs Already Leaked (Kind Of)
Back in May, a series of unverified but convincing photos leaked online, showing the Moto G96 in four bold color options—teal, copper, graphite, and a deep blue. The teaser images now on Flipkart seem to match those exactly, so either someone at Motorola got really lucky, or the leaks were spot on.
That leak also included a full spec dump. If it’s accurate—and at this point, it probably is—we’re looking at:
- Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor
- 12GB RAM, 256GB storage
- 6.67-inch OLED display, 144Hz refresh rate
- 50MP Sony main camera, 8MP ultrawide
- 5,500mAh battery
No word yet on fast charging, but considering the battery size, it’s likely somewhere north of 30W.
What This Means for India’s Midrange Market
Motorola’s midrange G-series phones haven’t always been exciting. They’re reliable, yes, but often safe to a fault. The Moto G96, however, appears to be edging toward the performance-first crowd—something closer to Poco or iQOO territory.
If the pricing lands right (likely under ₹20,000–₹25,000), this could give Motorola a much-needed jolt in the competitive midrange space. Particularly if it ships with Android 14 out of the box and sticks to a near-stock UI, which has quietly become one of the brand’s best features.
Color and Camera Are Doing the Talking
Weirdly, the most talked-about features so far aren’t specs. It’s the colors. That’s partly because there’s a shift happening—more brands are realizing vibrant design can win over buyers even before they check the chipset. If Motorola leads with personality this time, it might actually pay off.
As for the dual-camera setup, 50MP with Sony branding usually means solid performance in daylight. The 8MP ultrawide? Probably more of a checkbox than a major selling point, but we’ll see.
Motorola Moto G96: When to Expect It
There’s no launch date yet, but Motorola doesn’t usually wait long after teasers go live. We’d wager it’ll be announced within the next week or two, possibly in early July. Flipkart exclusivity seems certain.
