Xiaomi To Build More Manufacturing Plants In India


Xiaomi is currently adhering to the plans of the Indian government which is campaigning for “made in India” products. Presently, Xiaomi has two smartphone manufacturing plants in Sri City and Andhra Pradesh and one power bank factory in Noida. However, Xiaomi’s vice president, Manu Jain, told reporters in Hyderabad that the company is planning to establish more factories in the country. His words…

“We are definitely exploring. We want to add more capacity. We want to set up more plants, not just for phones, even for other categories like Mi-band. There are many other categories…,” he added “We don’t collect any user data. Not at all. We provide some Internet services…which means the user has to say, yes I want to use them. Even when the consumer opting these services, the data is sent to servers, they are fully encrypted. There is no security risk”.

Xiaomi is currently having a very nice time in India as its smartphones are performing very well. It is enjoying a huge acceptability in the world’s second-largest smartphone market thus the company has a reason to strengthen its presence in the country. As of now, the company is in the planning stage and the investment values will be made public in the coming weeks. Having shipped 9.2 million smartphone units in Q3 with a market share of 23.5%, Xiaomi climbed to top smartphone vendor in India considering IDC’s latest Quarterly Smartphone Tracker. In addition, the budget Redmi 5A was recently released and with a Rs 4999 price tag, it will most likely generate more revenue for Xiaomi.
