Samsung Believes Galaxy S9 Will Outperform Galaxy S8

Samsung Galaxy S8 was released in April last year and since then, it has sold about 37 million units. However, CEO of Samsung’s mobile division, DJ Koh, says that the company expects its new flagship, Galaxy S9, to outperform the Galaxy S8. Such statements are expected from all flagship manufacturers, at least any serious company will expect its new flagship to outperform the pre-existing device. Revolutionary design and functions are two of the major smartphone changes that attract users. While the Galaxy S8 has these, the Galaxy S9 is more of a heavy duty device with a similar design as the S8. This means that at first glance, the Galaxy S9 may not be attractive to users.

However, Koh said

“The Galaxy S9 will be released earlier in the year than the Galaxy S8 was, and as we plan to release various marketing strategies to beef up demand, I believe overall numbers will be better,”

Koh admitted that “there weren’t many expectations in terms of innovation.” but the feedback received so far is impressive. Samsung Galaxy S9 improved on a couple of features like camera and hardware. The company believes that innovation does not necessarily mean “forcing technologies to customers” but the provision of upgraded features that meet users demand.
