WhatsApp Dark Mode stable update now available for iOS and Android

Over the past few months, there have been multiple reports on the development of WhatsApp Dark Mode. The beta of this update has been available for some time now. However, most users have been waiting patiently for the stable update. Technically, the wait is over as WhatsApp officially announce the stable version of this update. According to the company, this latest update will be available for Android and iOS within a few days.

WhatsApp dark mode

We are very excited to update WhatsApp with the most requested feature from our users everywhere – dark mode…It’s designed to reduce eye strain in low light environments. And we hope it helps prevent those awkward moments where your phone lights up the room…Users on Android 10 and iOS 13 can use dark mode by enabling it in system settings. Users on Android 9 and below can go into WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Theme > select ‘Dark’. We hope everyone enjoys dark mode, which is rolling out in the coming days on the latest version of WhatsApp

WhatsApp dark mode is finally here

After the release of Android 10 and iOS 13 last year, both of which come with a full dark theme, it was quite surprising that this feature did not arrive.

This update focuses on readability. Thus, the color schemes are close to the system defaults on iPhone and Android”. Furthermore, this color mixture ensures that the most important information stands out. For Android 10 users, you can simply set the system theme to “dark” and WhatsApp will follow. However, you can also set just WhatsApp to “dark” from the settings. The latter is also applicable for Android 9 Pie and older systems. As for iOS users, only iOS 13 can have this update.
