Microsoft touts Edge as the ‘best browser for gamers’

Microsoft Edge’s global market share has exceeded 10%, indicating that more users are using this modern browser. A statement from the company a few hours ago claims that Edge is “the best browser for gamers,”. The company also reveals some of the gaming-friendly features that make it the best.  

First, Microsoft is adding a new home page dedicated to gaming. This will include news, guides, live and tournament highlights and more. It also integrates with Xbox, and if a user is signed in with an Xbox account, they will see content related to the games the user has recently played. In fact, if users have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, they can even launch the game directly in the browser. This new home page is accessible as a tab on the Microsoft Edge home page.

Additionally, the Clarity Boost feature, introduced in Edge Canary in November 2021, is finally coming to the stable channel and will provide better sharper image quality. This means that users will be able to see better graphics when streaming games through Xbox Cloud Gaming Multi-screen details. This technique utilizes client-side scaling to make the stream quality clearer. Users can enable it by clicking the three-dot icon in the upper left corner of the game.

Microsoft is also introducing a new configuration in Productivity Mode, which minimizes the use of browser resources when users play PC games. After exiting the game, resource usage will return to normal levels. Users can enable it through performance settings in Edge.

Finally, Microsoft officially announced the Edge Game Center, which includes casual games. This game menu will be integrated directly into the Edge three-dot (more options) menu, giving users instant access to classic lightweight games such as Microsoft Solitaire, Jewel (Gems), Mahjong, and more. Microsoft has been testing this hub since December 2021.
