Entry-level OPPO Joy introduced

OPPO today unveiled the latest addition to their smartphone family in the form of the entry-level OPPO Joy.

The device rocks a smaller than average 4-inch touchscreen with a 800 x 480 pixel WVGA IPS display, which features the now-standard ‘glove mode’, which allows you to use your phone even with gloves on. Specifications wise the phone is far from flagship, but perhaps does OK for a first smartphone. After all, quite a portion of smartphone buyers today are first-timers.

The OPPO Joy comes with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, which we believe is a derivative of the MT6582. Along with this, there’s a 512MB RAM chip to look after your basic multitasking requirements, along with 4GB of expandable storage. The camera department on the Joy consists of a 3 mega-pixel rear shooter and a 0.3 mega-pixel front, which can be used for video calls thanks to 3G connectivity that the OPPO Joy features.

AsĀ you expected from aĀ entry-level/mid-range phone, the Joy too does dual SIM (regular+micro). The device runs OPPO’s ColorOS based on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean and comes with a 1700mAh battery. The device is pricedĀ Rp. 1,699, 000 or $146 in Indonesia, with no word on an international launch.

Oppo’s products are way overpriced. That is pretty much the same spec as the $60 Jiayu F1
