The
iPad 2 has been out for months, and we've been promised clones of the latest Apple
tablet will launch sometime this month, yet Chinese manufactures are keen to cling on to those
iPad 1 knock-offs they've invested so much in to, but with some next generation features.
This latest in a long line of
clone iPad's is an intriging beast. It gets the same high end 1:1 imitation design as the rest of the pack, but with the added functionality of a front facing
camera.
There's also a very useful 'hold' button, to prevent the
screen from rotating in those situations it is undesired, like reading in bed.
And there is an
SD card reader, hiding under the black plastic panel at the top.
Surprisingly, for its size this
clone has a pathetically small
battery! The makers have deicided to spec a tiny 1800 mah
battery in this rather large 9.7 inch tablet, and the
screen is a
cheap resistive version!
Pricing is yet to be announced but we personally wouldn't pay more than 1000 Yuan for a unit like this ($154), in fact we're surprised that the manufacturers even believe there is a market for such a half hearted device when
tablets such as
this cost a fraction of the amount and will ultimately be more fun.
