IPS technology was
first seen in
tablets with the
launch of the original
iPad, but it has taken this long for
IPS screen technology prices to drop enough to make it financially viable for
Chinese factories to use them.
This is the
first ever
7 inch screened
IPS tablet we’ve seen, and while this is still a prototype, it is shaping up to be a very capable little
tablet.
The Shenzhen made device get’s an A9 AMlogic CPU which is more than capable of streaming either Flash or HTML5 video with no buffering. The chip is also plenty powerful for
gaming, but the
sample unit here had a few bugs which needed ironing out before
gaming performance could be tested.
O.S is
Android 2.3
Gingerbread which should bring speed and
battery life performances to the little
tablet over similarly spec’d 2.2 tablets
This sample has HDMI out, SD card reader, 3G sim and USB, but not everything is supported by the OS yet, something which the manufacturer assures will be sorted once realized.
Pricing is set at roughly 1900 Yuan and they should be available by 10th April (a similar date to the iPad 2 Chinese launch!)
