Apple isn’t just rethinking Siri. It’s building hardware around it. A new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims Apple is developing three new AI-focused devices: smart glasses, a small camera pendant, and upgraded AirPods. The common thread between these three devices is the camera. Each device would feed visual information into the iPhone so Siri can respond based on what you’re actually looking at.

Smart Glasses, Camera Pendant, and New AirPods Give Eyes to Siri

We believe that the smart glasses are the most ambitious of the three. The report states that production could begin in late 2026, with a launch expected in 2027. They are said to compete directly with Meta’s Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which have quietly carved out a real audience.

Unlike true AR glasses, Apple’s first model reportedly will not include a display. There will be no floating text in your vision. Instead, the glasses may include speakers, microphones, a high-resolution camera, and an additional sensor to support AI features. The pitch here is context; users can ask Siri about the building in front of them. They can also get reminders triggered by their location. Identify what’s on a plate. It’s less about futuristic overlays and more about awareness.

Apple is Doing All The Job From Schematics to Design

Apple is reportedly designing the frames itself rather than teaming up with a fashion brand. Early prototypes used a cable connected to an iPhone and a battery pack, which sounds very “first draft.” Newer versions are said to have everything built into the frame. True AR glasses with displays are still in development, but they are described as years away.

A Smart Pendant Gives Eyes to Siri

The pendant is a different approach to the same idea. Roughly the size of an AirTag, it could be worn as a necklace or clipped to clothing. It would include a camera and a microphone and rely heavily on the iPhone for processing. In practical terms, it would act as a constant visual companion for Siri. Bloomberg suggests it could arrive as soon as next year.
Then there are the AirPods. Gurman has previously reported that Apple is experimenting with adding low-resolution cameras to future models. Not for taking photos, but for analyzing surroundings and feeding data into AI systems.

Siri Will Evolve in the Next Years

Apple wants Siri to stop reacting and start understanding. The company has already leaned on Google’s Gemini models to strengthen its AI capabilities. Now it appears the hardware side is catching up.
Instead of betting everything on one dramatic product, Apple seems to be building layers. All tied back to the iPhone. It is a slow shift toward context-driven computing rather than screen-driven interaction.
Whether people embrace that shift is another matter. But Apple clearly believes the next phase of AI will not just sit in your phone. It will sit on you.
