After the official commercialization of
5G in India, several brands are now releasing updates for their devices.
Indian telecom operators Airtel, Jio and Vi launched 5G services in October this year. These carriers only offer 5G services in a few regions. However, to enable 5G connectivity, smartphone makers must roll out firmware updates for eligible devices. A few weeks ago, Apple India confirmed that eligible iPhones would get a firmware update in December. This firmware update will ensure that compatible iPhones can support 5G connectivity. There will be 13 iPhone models in India supporting 5G connectivity.The report also claims that
Apple executives will soon meet with members of India’s Ministry of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to inform them of the launch of the iOS 16 public beta firmware. In the upcoming iOS 16 public beta, the 5G iPhones will support Airtel 5G Plus and Jio True 5GApart from Apple, other brands in the Indian market also have plans to roll out the
5G support firmware.
Samsung has since revealed that its users will get the update this month. Oppo is also getting set to release this update. At the moment, there are several 5G smartphones in India. However, users will need this update before they can have access to the network.
