Before the IFA 2018 begins, ASUS decided to announce a new series of notebooks in face of the ASUS ZenBook 13 (UX333), ZenBook 14 (UX433), and ZenBook 15 (UX533). All models come with four-side ultra-narrow design, the screen ratio of which is over 95%.
As you know, when the frame is narrowed, a problem for a front facing camera occurs. As for the ASUS ZenBook new models, the left and right borders are 2.8mm, while the bottom border is 3.3mm. But the top border is 5.9mm, which allows the 720P lens to be placed on the forehead. At the same time, the Windows Hello 3D infrared lens are on both sides. The only sacrifice was that the ASUS logo has had to be moved. The whole machine comes with a metal casing. But it doesn’t affect the weight. The ASUS ZenBook 13 weighs 1.18Kg, while the largest version with a 15-inch screen weighs 1.69Kg.
In terms of configuration, it’s reasonable to see the generation of Whiskey Lake Core processor (up to i7-8565U) under the hood. There is also up to 16GB of memory, MX150 graphics card (ZenBook 15 features a 4K resolution and is equipped with a GTX 1050 Max-Q), 1TB PCIe SSD, and Harman Kardon stereo speakers. The 13-inch variant is promised to provide up to 14 hours of battery life, while the 15-inch model (73Wh) provides up to 16 hours.
There are various interfaces on the sides, including 1 HDMI port, 2 USB 3.1 ports, a USB-C that can be used as a power port, and the SD card slot on the ZenBook 13/14 is changed to the micro SD card slot.
For other highlights, the keycap has a metallic touch and the keystroke is 1.4mm. The ASUS ZenBook 13/14 simulates a numeric keypad with LEDs in the touchpad area.
The starting price is $899 (4GB RAM). It will be available next month.
