HMD is preparing another smartphone
for next year, and leaks have already given us a detailed look. The
upcoming
model is said to launch as the
HMD Ace 5G. Although it won’t arrive until 2026, early renders and specifications are already circulating online.
Display
and Design
According to rumours so far, the
HMD Ace 5G will feature a 6.67-inch p-OLED screen with FHD+ resolution. It will also offer a 120Hz
refresh rate for smooth scrolling and gaming.
Renders show a centred punch-hole
cutout for the selfie camera and slim bezels around the edges.
Three colour options are on the way:
Pristine White, Ebony Black, and Candy Pink. The design takes cues from Apple,
blending the dual camera look of the iPhone 17 with the elongated camera island
of the iPhone 17 Pro.
Hardware
and Performance
Under the hood, this device hosts Qualcomm's
Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor. This is the same chip found in
devices like the Honor 400 Smart.
HMD is pairing it with 8GB of RAM and 256GB
of internal storage. According to the leak, this will be the only configuration
available at launch.
Camera
Setup
A 50MP main sensor leads the rear camera system with optical image stabilisation. Alongside it, there’s an 8MP
ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor.
On the front, users will get another
50MP sensor for high-resolution selfies and video calls.
Battery
and Software
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh
battery with support for 33W fast wired charging.
On the software side,
HMD
will offer three years of OS updates. Buyers will also get a one-year warranty.
Extra
Features
The Ace 5G should support an IP65 rating for dust and water protection. It will also come with a
programmable button on the left side.
Despite using an OLED display, the phone
will rely on a side-mount fingerprint scanner instead of an in-display
solution. Stereo speakers will round out the media features.
Launch
and Pricing
At the time of writing, there is no official price for the device. However, there are rumours that this device will launch at MWC 2026. The
HMD Ace 5G is poised to be a formidable mid-range device, but a major issue that will significantly impact its success is the price tag.
