HONOR has
launched the
Honor Magic8 Pro in the UK, positioning it as a camera-first flagship with aggressive AI features and a large battery. The device targets users who care about zoom photography, low-light performance, and fast charging rather than cosmetic upgrades. The headline feature is a 200MP telephoto camera, built to handle night shots at longer zoom levels where most phones struggle.
Honor Magic8 Pro: Camera Setup Built Around Zoom and Stability
The
Honor Magic8 Pro uses a 200MP telephoto sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, f/2.6 aperture, optical image stabilization, and 3.7x optical zoom.
HONOR focuses heavily on stabilization, claiming up to seven times better stability when shooting zoomed photos. The system is rated at CIPA 5.5, a level usually seen on dedicated cameras.
The rest of the camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 50MP ultra-wide camera that also handles macro shots. The goal here is consistency across lenses rather than chasing extreme focal lengths.
AI Tools That Focus on Editing and Safety
HONOR introduces Magic Colour, an AI colour engine that processes up to 16.77 million colours in real time. Users can copy colour profiles from reference images or apply preset cinematic looks directly in the camera app.
Photo editing relies on the AI Photos Agent, which includes object removal, background expansion, cutouts, and colour adjustments. Most actions work with a single tap or voice command. There is also a new AI Button that sits separately from the power key. It can launch the camera instantly or trigger AI tools even when the phone is locked.
Outside photography, the phone includes AI deepfake detection and AI voice cloning detection, designed to flag suspicious video calls and synthetic voices during calls.
Performance, Display, and Battery
The Magic8 Pro runs on the
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with AI upscaling that allows some games to reach 120fps at 1080p, even if they were not designed for that frame rate. The phone draws its power from a large 6,270mAh battery. It uses the silicon-carbon technology to keep size under control while offering a great overall endurance. The phone supports 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, easily placing it among the fastest in its class.
The display is a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED with a 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 6,000 nits peak HDR brightness. Eye comfort features include high-frequency PWM dimming and adaptive brightness tuning based on time of day.
Software and Availability
The phone ships with MagicOS 10, combining on-device AI with Google Gemini for cloud-based tasks. File sharing works across Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS, and
HONOR has improved its iPhone-to-Android transfer tools.
The
HONOR Magic8 Pro is now available in the UK in Black, Sky Cyan, and Sunrise Gold, priced at £1,099.99.
