This rather plain looking jacket from the
Ming Dynasty is covered with roughly 50,000
Chinese characters and would have taken the writer 3-4 years to complete according to staff at a Laizhou museum.
Why would some one spend so much time working on a jacket with zero
fashion cred? To cheat of course!
The content of the overcoat’s writing is from ‘The Four
Books and Five Classics’ which were part of the study content for the Imperial exam the highest level exams held in the
Ming Dynasty.
The Imperial exams were held in such high regard the emperor himself would preside over them. Imagine being caught cheating!!
