Huawei unveiled its
Huawei Mate 80 series today, including a brand-new
Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max variant. The new flagships bring the best specs the brand can offer with all its in-house developed solutions like the Kirin chips,
HarmonyOS, and XMAGE Camera Systems. Besides the regular flagships, the brand also introduced a new foldable dubbed Huawei Mate X7. The new slate continues the brand's lineup that began the race in the foldable segment. It brings notable upgrades over its predecessors, including an IP58 and IP59 ingress protection. The new device also
features the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, a new telephoto camera, and a larger battery.
Huawei Mate X7 Features and Specifications
The Huawei Mate X6 was a slim and light device; Now, Huawei goes a step further with the
Huawei Mate X7. The new foldable measures just 9.5mm when folded and 4.5mm when unfolded. The device has 235 grams, making it 4 grams lighter than the X6. It manages to be lighter, increasing the battery, including the extra ruggedness, and keeping the sturdy aluminum frame. The new IP58 and IP59 ratings mean the Mate X7 is dust-protected and water-resistant against splashes and even close-range high-pressure water jets.
The Huawei Mate X7 is slightly larger with a 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and an 8-inch main screen with an 8:7.3 ratio. Both are LTPO OLEDs with a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
When it comes to the camera department, the Huawei Mate X7 has a 59 MP main camera from last year with an RYYB sensor, 10-stop physical variable aperture, and OIS. Moreover, it includes a 50 MP f/2.2 telephoto sensor with 3.5x optical zoom. There is also a 40 MP ultrawide snapper. For selfie cameras, the Mate X7 has two 8 MP selfie cameras. One on the cover screen and another one in the inner display.
Kirin 9030 Pro
The Huawei Mate X7 comes with a Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, which currently stands as Huawei's flagship SoC. We don't have the exact details of the new CPU, but it reportedly comes with a 9-core ARMv8 architecture, featuring a prime core clocked at 2.75 GHz, 4 performance cores at 2.27 GHz, and 4 efficiency cores at 1.72 GHz. The phone is paired with either 12 GB or 16GB of RAM with up to 1 TB of Storage.
The foldable has a dual-cell Si-C battery with a combined 5,600mAh capacity. It offers support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device runs HarmonyOS 6 straight out of the box in China and features satellite connectivity.
