iQOO 16 Elevates Mobile Gaming with Advanced Ray Tracing and Q4 Chipset

iQOO has just shared new details about the iQOO 16. During the Snapdragon Game Technology Showcase, the company's VP talked about the phone's graphics capabilities, including something that still isn't very common on smartphones: full-scene ray tracing.

Ray tracing

Ray tracing is basically a way of making lighting in games look more realistic. Instead of relying on pre-made effects, light can bounce off surfaces and create natural shadows. It's something you can find in gaming PCs and consoles. But now its on a phone? I dont know about you, but i cant wait to see how it turns out!
All of this is powered by iQOO's new Q4 chip. The last chip was already capable of running full-scene ray tracing in Genshin Impact, which was a real achievement for a phone. With the Q4, iQOO wants to take things further and bring the feature to more games. And not keeping this feature to a single title is clearly the smarter choice. Its also better for consumers who have different tastes in games.

Visual Triple-Core

They also introduced the "Visual Triple-Core" system. The setup has three main features: full-scene ray tracing. An 8K screen recording feature. And last, a game camera mode for taking quality screenshots.
The screen recording feature is particularly interesting. According to iQOO, it can use super-resolution technology to produce 8K video while keeping frame rates stable during longer gaming sessions.

How many games will it support?

Of course, the real question is how many games will actually support all of this. Mobile gaming hardware has been getting more powerful for years, but features like ray tracing often end up being used mostly for demos or a small number of supported titles.
If iQOO can bring this to more titles, then the iQOO 16 could be one of the more interesting gaming phones to watch. At that point, mobile graphics might start looking a little less like mobile graphics.
