The recent success of portable PC / consoles, like the Steam Deck, keeps giving other brands a reason to bet in this segment. The original
Lenovo Legion Go was one of the best in this growing segment, and the company seems to be ready to launch the next generation. While Valve and ASUS remain satisfied with their current product,
Lenovo is ready for the next step. The company showed a prototype of the
Lenovo Legion Go 2 at CES earlier this year. Now, a new report suggests that this device is ready for IFA Berlin, which starts on September 5.
Lenovo Legion Go 2 is Coming with an Improved CPU and GPU
The
tipster Evan Blass revealed (
via GSMArena) details about Lenovo's announcements at IFA Berlin. According to marketing materials shared by the tipster, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 will feature AMD's Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 architecture-based Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU. One of the biggest improvements in this APU is the graphics, something very important when we're talking about a portable gaming device. It features the new Radeon 890M GPU, which offers a great improvement over its predecessors.
Incremental Improvements in Design
In terms of design, Lenovo isn't taking major departures from the original Legion Go. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 will feature an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz and 1600p resolution. The device will also offer a new coating that will be fingerprint-resistant. It will also introduce a fingerprint reader and an improved rear button layout. The console will offer detachable controllers similar to its predecessor.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2's prototype had a 74Wh battery with support for 65W fast-charging. It will feature 32 GB of RAM and 2TB of Internal Storage. The device will run Windows 11 Home straight out of the box. Of course, one will be able to install Steam OS since it has already been disclosed by Valve.
