Phone maker
Carpad have branched off in to the
smartwatch and
wearables market with this true smart Android watch costing just $65.
When startup Omate first announced they planned to release the Truesmart Android watch the whole tech world was watching them so, it seems, were rival Chinese manufacturer eager to bolster their portfolio!
The Carpad
smartwatch looks more like a traditional wrist watch with chrome
display surround and black strap. Just as the
Omate Truesmart is it’s own device, i.e. will fully function without a smartphone, the Carpad
smartwatch too packs all the usual phone
features behind a compact 1.54-inch touch screen.
At the heart of the
smartwatch is a dual-core Mediatek MT6577 SoC, bringing WIFI, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and even dual
sim support to the table. There is also a 500mAh battery 4GB of internal memory all topped off in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Carpad watch will be available in China this month, the Omate Truesmart still hasn’t arrived with those who originally backed the project, UPDATE: Many OMATE Truesmart backers are still waiting for their watches to arrive, myself included!
