A new leak suggests the upcoming OnePlus 15T might not bring the camera upgrades some fans were hoping for. The device is expected to arrive soon as the successor to the OnePlus 13T, which launched last April. Still, if the latest information out of China is accurate, the rear camera hardware will look very familiar. In some way, it may even disappoint those waiting for major upgrades.

OnePlus 15T Camera Details Have Been Revealed

According to the rumor, the OnePlus 15T will once again feature a 50MP main camera built around Sony’s 1/1.56-inch Lytia 700 sensor with optical image stabilization, paired with a 50MP telephoto camera using Samsung’s 1/2.76-inch ISOCELL JN5 sensor. In other words, the same core setup as the 13T.
The only reported change concerns the telephoto lens aperture. While the 13T used an f/2.0 aperture, the 15T is said to move to f/2.8. The main camera’s bright f/1.8 aperture is expected to remain untouched. On paper, that doesn’t sound like much of an upgrade. Depending on the software, the narrower telephoto aperture could even raise eyebrows among photography-focused users.
Elsewhere, previous rumors have painted a more exciting picture. The OnePlus 15T is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and could pack the largest battery ever fitted into a phone of its size. It’s also expected to feature a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with “1.5K” resolution, along with a 16MP front-facing camera.

Key Specs Recap (Rumored)

  • Display: 6.32-inch AMOLED, “1.5K” resolution
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
  • Rear Main Camera: 50MP Sony Lytia 700 (1/1.56"), OIS, f/1.8
  • Rear Telephoto: 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 (1/2.76"), f/2.8
  • Selfie Camera: 16MP
  • Battery: Tipped to be the largest ever in a phone of this size
If these details hold up, the 15T may be more about performance and battery gains than camera improvements. Interestingly, we may also see the launch of a compact phone from Oppo in the next few weeks. The Oppo Find X9s Pro has been tipped recently, and it seems to be a far more exciting device than the OnePlus 15T with a 200 MP dual camera setup.
