OnePlus might be busy with the launch of its new flagship, the
OnePlus 15. The device is set to land in China this October. But this release can't prevent the brand from working on another phone from another lineup from China. The brand is already moving on to the launch of the
OnePlus Ace 6.
The well-known Digital Chat Station
shared new details about it, shedding some light on its specifications. Interestingly, his post also revealed that the
OnePlus Ace 6 Pro has been cancelled. That phone was expected to use the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as the OnePlus 15. Because of the change, it now looks like the regular Ace 6 will appear with the OnePlus 15 instead.
OnePlus Ace 6 to Carry the Snapdragon 8 Elite
According to the leak, the OnePlus Ace 6 will come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It will also carry a huge 7,800mAh battery. On top of that, the phone will support 120W wired charging. This means users can expect both strong battery life and very fast charging. While the tipster did not mention the name directly, the specs match the Ace 6, so many believe he is talking about this model.
As you probably noticed, the Ace 6 will not use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Instead, it will rely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. OnePlus has already teased a device with the Gen 5 chip, but this could belong to a new Turbo series that may arrive later in 2025. This is an interesting twist. After all, we have been expecting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 to fill the role of flagship killers like those in the OnePlus R-series. OnePlus, apparently, has different plans.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite had a shorter life cycle in comparison to its predecessors. With a shorter life cycle, I don't mean it is dead, but that its successor arrived much earlier than usual. It is still rock solid for the flagship segment. As a result, we may still see a couple of devices arriving with this chipset, at least during the remaining months of 2025.
Specs Tipped
Other reports claim the Ace 6 will feature a 6.83-inch OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. The camera setup has not been revealed yet. Since the Ace 6 is focused on performance, its cameras may not be the main highlight.
Rumors also say that a slightly modified version of the Ace 6 will launch in India as the
OnePlus 15R. This means fans outside China will also get a chance to try the new hardware.
