OnePlus may already be working on the Ace 7, and this could be much more than a small update. A new leak points to a 185Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a new 200MP main camera. There may even be a cooling fan inside.
The name isn't confirmed yet, but the specs make one thing clear. OnePlus seems to be building this phone with gaming in mind.

185Hz on a phone?

According to Digital Chat Station, the new OnePlus phone has a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution. The big number here is the 185Hz refresh rate, which is even higher than the 165Hz screens we've seen on recent OnePlus phones.
Do we really need 185Hz? I'm not sure. The jump from 120Hz to 185Hz won't feel anything like moving from 60Hz to 120Hz, and games will need to support those frame rates too. Still, OnePlus clearly wants this phone to be fast.
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. That's not Qualcomm's newest chip anymore, but it still has more than enough power for almost anything you can do on an Android phone.

A cooling fan is coming too

Things get more interesting with cooling. The leak claims that OnePlus will add an active cooling fan, which would be a first for the Ace series.
We've seen built-in fans on gaming phones before, but OnePlus normally relies on large vapor chambers. Adding active cooling could help the Snapdragon chip stay fast during long gaming sessions without cutting performance as the phone gets hot.
I actually like this idea more than the 185Hz screen. A very high refresh rate looks great on a spec sheet, but keeping the chip cool can make a real difference after 30 minutes of gaming.
Battery size isn't known yet. The Ace 6 had a huge 7,800mAh battery, though, so I would be surprised if OnePlus went smaller this time.

200MP is a big camera change

The Ace 7 could also get a major camera upgrade. The leak points to a 200MP + 50MP dual-camera setup on the back, with a 16MP selfie camera on the front.
We don't know what the second 50MP camera does yet. More details should appear as the phone gets closer to launch.
The Ace 7 name is also based on leaks for now. OnePlus is said to have another Ace model in development with the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 6, which could arrive as the Ace 7T.
Last year's Ace 6 launched alongside the OnePlus 15 in October. If OnePlus follows the same plan, we could see the Ace 7 arrive with the OnePlus 16 next month.
With a 185Hz screen, active cooling and a 200MP camera, this is starting to sound less like a normal Ace phone and more like a gaming flagship.
