OPPO Find X10 Series Receives Certification with 80W Fast Charging Support

The OPPO Find X10 just cleared an important certification step, charging speed is staying exactly the same as last year's phone. But don't let that fool you, the battery inside is getting a serious upgrade.

The Find X10 is expected to come with an 8,000mAh battery, a nice jump up from last year's model, which had 7,025mAh. But when it comes to charging speed, OPPO is sticking with 80W, the exact same speed as before. In other words, OPPO isn't trying to make your phone charge faster this time around. Instead, all that extra effort went into packing in more battery life, so your phone can go longer between charges without changing how fast it powers back up.

And OPPO isn't alone here. Other big phone makers are making the same call. Take vivo, for example, its upcoming X500 Pro Max is landing with a similar 8,000mAh battery, but its charging speed of 90W is actually a bit slower than some of vivo's older phones, which have hit 100W in the past. It really looks like every major brand is racing to win on battery size this year, not charging speed.

Here's the thing, cranking charging speed up higher and higher isn't free. It tends to create more heat, and over time, that can wear the battery down faster. A bigger battery, though, is something you notice every single day. You're not constantly hunting for a charger, and your phone just lasts longer without you having to think about it. So even though a slower charging number might look less impressive on paper, it's honestly the more practical choice for most people.

OPPO clearly isn't chasing bragging rights on charging speed with the Find X10. By keeping things steady at 80W and pouring the real upgrade into battery size, they're betting that lasting all day matters more to people than shaving a few minutes off charging time. And judging by what other brands are doing too, that bet seems to be paying off across the whole industry.
