OPPO is turning the heat up -- a bit before summer takes full control -- in India.
The Chinese brand is readying itself to manufacture a total of one million
4G-ready phones in India. OPPO has only spent a little over 2 years in India, but already enjoys massive offline following in the cut-throat Indian market thanks to its extensive campaigns.
India CEO Mike Wang revealed in an interview with
Economic Times that the brand was looking to produce about a million units of 4G-ready phones, mostly from the 10,000 INR to 20,000 INR range ($150-300). Wang however, did not mention any model names.
These phones will be designed in China, manufactured in India. While these phones produced in India mainly serve the domestic market -- which recently surpassed the US to become the 2nd largest smartphone market after China -- OPPO plans to export a section of the produce to other South Asian markets.
OPPO's most recent Indian release, the F1, was launched late January and enjoys primetime commercial footage on Indian TV.
