The smartphone industry is evolving and foldable smartphones seem to be an area of focus for many OEMs. The market is not entirely keen on this technology basically due to its fragility and price. Nevertheless, smartphone manufacturers believe otherwise and the likes of Samsung and Huawei already have foldable phones. Now,
Sharp has a dual
foldable smartphone (or display).
This smartphone is only a prototype and as of now, it does not have other components such as a processor, cameras, etc. According to a
Sharp official, the company does not plan to commercialize this smartphone. It appears that Sharp just want other foldable phone manufacturers to see the display and probably make a bid. Recently, the Japanese manufacturer
patented a gaming foldable smartphone which sparked speculations of Sharp's intentions.
