Xiaomi is known as Chinese Apple. The Chinese company didn’t get this nickname accidentally. In the first days of its activity, the manufacturer launched iPhone-like smartphones running on its own UI and priced much more affordable. Now, Xiaomi has made a name for itself. We mean it’s not associated with the Cupertino-based company. But it still continues to resort to the old and good techniques. What’s more interesting, its satellite-company Redmi does the same as well. For instance, the Redmi Buds are thought to be the Apple AirPods copycats. The reason is that Redmi’s earphones look identical to the AirPods but of course, cost much less. Regardless of your (our) attitude towards Xiaomi’s (Redmi’s) strategy, it works. And in a few days, on May 24, the company will take wraps off the new Redmi Buds 4 Pro flagship TWS headphones.

Redmi Buds 4 Pro Highlights

The Redmi Buds 4 Pro headset will "challenge the noise reduction headphones in the thousand-yuan niche". The phrase “thousand-yuan” indicates that our protagonist will cost around 1000 yuan, which converts to $149.

The manufacturer also said that there will be three new features:
  • New technology: super noise reduction, super low latency, and certified by authoritative organizations.
  • A new sense of hearing: tons of adjustments for both hardware to software, upgraded HiFi for better sound quality.
  • New Positioning: these are going to be genuine flagship earbuds at a very competitive price.
Prior to this, Xiaomi’s sub-brand announced that it would release new Redmi Buds earphones that support Bluetooth 5.3 and LC3 codec. By the way, Redmi Note 11T will also support Bluetooth 5.3. So these two can turn into a cool tandem.

Older Redmi Buds

As a reference, the Redmi Buds 3 headset was out in September last year. It adopts a semi-in-ear design without active noise reduction. Plus, inside, the product uses the Qualcomm QCC3040 chip and supports aptX Adaptive high-definition audio decoding. The crowdfunding price is 159 yuan ($24).

In comparison to the current model, the upcoming Redmi Buds 4 Pro ought to have a big improvement in hardware. But you should also take into consideration that Redmi is changing the positioning, and it wouldn’t be cheap.

Anyway, this is going to be the first Redmi earphones supporting a new kind of noise cancelation. Many products on the market use this technology. But in fact, there are many factors having an impact on the best noise reduction effect. We guess Redmi will launch cost-effective TWS earphones.
