Chinese tablet/phone maker
AGSO have an amazing
design team and have always managed to wow me with their great looking tablets, and now their all new
7 inch phablet has me weak at the knees!
Let’s just take a good look at the AGSO SOMX 7 inch design and body for a brief moment! Yeah, it looks a little on the thick side, but it also reminds me a Casio G Shock with chunky side profile, black front and brushed metal back!
It’s classy to say the least and seems to be in it’s own league of design when compared to many of the other Chinese made tablets we have seen in the past.
The
screen on the
AGSO SOMX is a
7 inch IPS high-resolution 1024 x 600 unit which offers a great, wide viewing angle and is said to be very responsive.
Firmly gripping that screen in position is that great looking body which uses a rugged plastic chassis with a metal back plate, which adds a touch of class and I imagine helps to protect the unit if it were to be dropped.
Under the hood and powering things is a Samsung Exynos 3110 CPU running at 1Ghx, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, and 512mb RAM.
Hardware highlights include a front facing 1.3 mega-pixel
camera, 5 mega-pixel rear
camera with auto focus and LED flash. As you would expect from a Phablet, the
AGSO has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and supports both
3G and 2G networks and can act as a mobile hotspot.
Android 4.0 ICS is comes pre-installed, but there is not mention of a Jelly Bean update or if the
SOMX comes with Android Play or not.
One interesting rumor about the SOMX is that it will have a built-in Ethernet so you can even browse the web when WiFi and 3G aren’t available!
