The
news that
Google had bought
Motorola must have been a huge blow to international companies such as
LG and
Samsung, as well as smaller local Korean brands SK and SKY, so is the latest
news that South
Korea is working on it's own
mobile OS a backlash against the Google
Motorola merger?
The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, said on Monday: “We plan to develop Korea’s own web-based operating systems by forming a consortium of local companies" Those 'local' companies include such electronics giants as Samsung and LG!
The planned
OS is said to be primarily aimed at the smartphone and
tablet market, but there is not reason that it could not be also adopted for use on net books and even laptop computer!
