When you look at the Android community, things move fast. For a long time, ReVanced was the king of custom YouTube apps. But lately, several top developers left that project to build something new. They called it Morphe. It’s an open-source tool that picks up exactly where the old favorites left off, giving you a way to fix the parts of YouTube that feel broken or annoying.

What is Morphe exactly?

Several developers and contributors recently left the Revanced project and released the open-source Morphe app. Morphe isn't a fake app you download from a random site. It is a patcher. Think of it like a digital toolkit. It takes the official YouTube app from Google and adds new features directly to it on your phone. Because it uses the real app as a base, everything feels familiar, but you get a lot more control.

Why people are switching

No More Ads: You can watch videos from start to finish without a single interruption.
SponsorBlock: This is a fan-favorite. It automatically skips those "sponsored by" segments inside the video itself.
Bye-Bye Shorts: If you find the short-form videos distracting, Morphe lets you hide the Shorts tab and remove them from your home feed entirely.
Bring Back Dislikes: Since Google hid the dislike count, it’s been hard to tell if a tutorial actually works. Morphe brings that number back.
Custom Look: You can change the app icon or even rename it so it doesn't just say "YouTube."

Is it hard to set up?

The best part about Morphe is that it’s built for regular people, not just tech experts. The app tells you exactly which version of YouTube you need (usually around v20.37.48). If you don't have it, it points you to a safe download link. After it "patches" the app, you just install a small background tool called microG. This lets you sign in to your Google account so all your playlists and history are right where you left them.

We don't know how long Google will let these apps exist, but for now, Morphe is the best way to get a "Premium" experience for free.
