CoolPad HD 9960 packs Tegra 3 Quad-core, 13MP Camera and Jelly Bean

The CoolPAd HD 9960 is a full on Chinese super phone packing a high performance quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, high resolution screen, and 13 mega-pixel camera! Keep reading to get more details of this possible Oppo Find 5 eater!

Update! Thanks to everyone for pointing out my mistake! I got lost in the moment earlier forgetting the quad-core Tegra 3 CPU is technically a 5 core unit. CoolPad havent added an additional CPU as I reported earlier.

CoolPad have equipped the CoolPad HD 9960 with a 1280 x 720 resolution 4.7 inch display, 13 mega-pixel rear camera with back illuminated F2.0 aperature, 1GB RAM 16GB of built-memory and a 2000mAh battery.

Gizchina News of the week

If that’s not enough to get you excited a Gorilla Glass display should keep the front of this phone looking great while Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will ensure it keeps up to date with phones from other manufacturers and the quad-core Tegra 3 CPU along with 1GB RAM should dish out enough performance you could need.

As you would expect from a phone of this pedigree the CoolPad HD 9960 won’t come cheap with reports suggesting it will cost as much as 4980 Yuan ($797).

    Are you sure something was not lost in translation ? Tegra 3 itself is a 4+1 core CPU (4 fast cores plus 1 low power). It absolutely does not make any sense to use a Tegra 3 AND to add another CPU (plus I’m pretty sure it will be very complicated to manage this). I’m pretty sure they just use a Tegra 3 like everybody else.

    Oh dear – I doubt they have added this additional core to Tegra 3 which already has 4 “full” cores and a 5th power saving one.

    Andi… I’m not sure if you know but the Tegra 3 is technically a 5 core CPU. It has 4 high performance cores and 1 companion core for low power tasks. So it’s essentially like what’s described in the article. As the Tegra 3 is a year old CPU this isn’t the first 5 core phone.

    I dont think coolpad embedded another cpu because the tegra has always been 5 cores…

    Slightly unrelated – Great work on the website but can you please consider providing links to the products you announce? It is frustrating to hear about new gadgets and not get a chance to see/purchase them without having to google and try to use online Chinese translators to make sense of results etc.
    Thank you

      @Andy
      Oh yes, please Andy, if you know where to buy (even if only Chinese website), please add the link…. I usually spend 20min each time after reading article to try to find manufacturer site and if it is available to buy… for instance, you said the 360 phone to sell at 360RMB , well impossible to find at this price, no one on taobao cell it that low..

    Erm…to me almost $800 is TOO EXPENSIVE for a chinese phone. To spend all this money…I certainly would prefer a Galaxy SIII or other super phone.

    I know that this phone should be fantastic … but only for those who live in China. For international buyers, it’s a lot of money at stake.

    Ah this phone is way to expensive, why go for this inferior phone as you can get many good phones around 2000 yuan.

    MTK6588 will afford similar power at a reasonable price. Who needs this one for $800 even it has on board a good camera (which must be proved yet) and screen? How long will it work on one battery? Is it a dual SIM? Guess no. $300 at most.

    For $800 I can get myself a Galaxy Note 2 lte. It will have good resale value when I upgrade.
