1080HD, Quad-core MT6589T, 2GB RAM, TCL Idol X on sale for $277 in China

While the rest of the world can buy the Alcatel One Touch Idol X for $300, Chinese customers can now buy it as the TCL Idol X for just $277 with an updated 1.5Ghz chipset!

TCL (the manufacturers of Alcatel phones here in China) and China’s E-commerce giant Jingdong Mall (formally 360buy) have teamed up to launch the exclusive TCL Idol X here in China.

If you’re familiar with the Alcatel One Touch Idol X, you will already notice that the TCL version uses the same design and even packs the same hardware, which is all impressive stuff considering the low-price tag.

Gizchina News of the week

The business end of the phone boasts a 5-inch OGS, 1080 display with 1.75mm narrow bezels to keep the Idol X at a comfy size. Speaking of size the TCL Idol X measures just 6.99mm, however this has limited the battery to just a 2000mAh unit!

Other hardware highlights include an updated 1.5Ghz quad-core Mediatek MT6589T processor with faster GPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in memory, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS!

My thought (based on what i have seen so far) if the phone cost is 277 USD do not expect it to get at 300 USD. Reseller charges more.
E.g. Xiaomi Mi2 was 320USD but was sold at over 400 USD.

You might want to check in Aliexpress too there might be some little discounts at times. But clear things out with seller before you pay.

Its not same with Alcatel phone. TCL have 1,5Ghz (vs 1,2) and 2GB Ram and 13 Mpix (vs 8) camera. But the best is that this phone support 3G WCDMA 900/2100Mhz. UMI X2 was anounced with 900/2100 but now they changed to shitty 850/2100. Screw u UMI !

You know, the manifacturer doesnt really touch the frequencies phones work at, it’s mostly mediatek that do that, especially since they’re closed-source.

just received the phone today, and I am very impressed. it’s incredibly light and thin. my main question for you guys though is does anyone know how to root it? i’m having an incredibly hard time trying to break through? the main reason why i am looking to do so is to remove some of the bloatware on the phone and install Google Apps. Thanks in advance.
