Meitu 2 goes on sale today with dual 13 mega-pixel cameras and Oclick style remote

Chinese phone makers like Meitu have been producing phones solely for the purpose of filling a very specific niche in the market. The Meitu 2 is the companies second ‘selfie’- centric device, with updated specifications and features.

Oppo and Sugur have been selling phones with beauty features and styling which appeals to female tech lovers for months now, but it Meitu which have gone a little deeper by actually building their phones from the ground up with the specific purpose of taking photos, adjusting skin tones and of course the all important ‘selfie’.

Today Meitu launch the Meitu 2, their most advanced beauty phone to date with dual 13 mega-pixel cameras (of unknown manufacturer), dual LED rear flash, 4.7-inch display, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB internal memory and 1.7Ghz Octacore MT6592 processor. So plenty of power on tap, but it is the in the camera department where Meitu have really concentrated.

Running their own MeiOs, the Meitu 2 has been set up to be able to take photos in low light settings such as nightclubs, restaurants etc. The UI is close to iOS and also offers skin softening, and whitening options to further enhance images. Meitu have also made  a Bluetooth remote for the camera (similar to Oppo’s Oclick).

Chinese customers will be able to buy the Meitu 2 in a range of colours today from Suning from 2199 Yuan rising to 2399 Yuan for the 32GB option.

    The design is really unique. If they toned down the bezels a little and changed the shape of the rear speaker it would look pretty good.
