Red Magic has confirmed that its upcoming Red Magic 12 Pro+ gaming phone will support Dolby Atmos. The company announced the feature on October 11, ahead of the phone's launch on October 15 at 2:30 PM Beijing time (6:30 AM UTC).
The new model will also bring a redesigned cooling system and changes to its overall design. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will handle processing, although the phone's full specifications have yet to be confirmed.

Dolby Atmos and stereo speakers focus on gaming audio

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ will feature symmetrical 1115E stereo speakers, with Dolby Atmos support aimed at creating a more immersive sound experience. In games, spatial audio can help players work out where sounds such as footsteps and gunfire are coming from.
Red Magic calls this its best-sounding phone yet. However, independent tests will be needed to judge that claim. Dolby Atmos support alone does not guarantee great sound, as speaker design and tuning also play a major role.
The company says the phone will be lighter, thinner and narrower than its predecessor, the Red Magic 11 Pro+, which weighed around 240 grams. It also claims the new model will be more comfortable to hold, with rounder edges and a narrower body.
The black border around the display has reportedly shrunk from 1.25mm to 0.96mm. The front camera will remain hidden beneath the screen, and the phone will come in three transparent-style color options.

RGB liquid cooling works alongside a fan

The redesigned cooling system is one of the phone's main features. Red Magic describes it as the first of its kind to combine liquid cooling with RGB lighting.
According to the company, liquid flows through a dual-loop system covering the air channel, processor and battery. The system uses fluorinated liquid, a type of coolant also found in some server cooling setups. A small pump draws 20mW of power and produces 130kPa of pressure.
The phone also uses a graphene layer and 4.0 composite liquid metal to help move heat away from key components. An active cooling fan remains in place, so the device combines liquid and air cooling. Its predecessor already used a similar approach.

Snapdragon chip leads, but battery details remain unconfirmed

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will power the phone. A test device listed as Nubia NX819J reportedly scored 3,677 points in Geekbench 7's single-core test and 12,679 in its multi-core test. These are early results from one device, not a measure of sustained gaming performance.
Leaks also point to an 8,400mAh battery, 120W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Red Magic has not confirmed those details yet.

Price and global release are still unknown

Red Magic has not announced the phone's price or an international release date. For comparison, the Red Magic 11 Pro+ launched in China at 5,699 yuan, roughly $800. That is only a currency conversion, not an expected retail price for other markets.
The new processor and cooling system could affect the final price, but any increase remains speculation until Red Magic shares the official details.
