Red Magic just launched a new cooling gadget for gamers, and it comes in a new look. The Cooler 8 Pro Dark Zone Breakout Limited Edition clips onto your phone and pulls heat away while you play. It costs 229 yuan, which comes out to roughly 32 US dollars.

A New Look, Built for Gamers

This version stands out right away. Its in a yellow and silver color. It also copies a carbon fiber look, that material is very tough and it has a high-tech style. Red Magic even throws in a set of stickers, so you can decorate your phone and cooler to match your own style. A great little bonus that many might not apreciate as much as i do.

The Cooling Power

Looks aside, this cooler is built to actually work hard. At its core sits a large cooling chip, measuring 1,640 square millimeters. Inside that chip are 124 tiny pairs of heat-pumping parts, working together to pull warmth away fast. Red Magic says this setup beats the last version by 130 percent.
And that might not be just a marketing stunt, the numbers hold up. The cooler can push out 36 watts of cooling power. Under heavy gaming, it can drop your phone's temperature by up to 80 degrees Celsius. Left idle, it can even reach as low as negative 25 degrees. An 11-blade fan spins at speeds up to 6,500 RPM to help move that heat away quickly.

One Thing to Know Before Buying

There is one important detail to keep in mind. The cooler needs a wall charger with at least 45W of power to reach its full performance. RedMagic recommends a 65W charger for its strongest cooling mode.
Powering the cooler from the phone itself is also possible, but the fan runs much slower. RedMagic says this can cut cooling performance by around half.
This means the cooler works best with a separate wall charger. If you already have a 45W or 65W charger, you should be fine. If not, the extra charger is something i personaly would get before buying the cooler.

Who This Is Actually For

This level of cooling isn't for everyone. If you mostly play light games and your phone rarely gets hot, a cheaper cooler would likely do the job just fine. But if you play demanding games for long stretches and hate watching your frame rate drop from overheating, this cooler is built exactly for that problem.
