Red Magic 12 Pro+: A Gaming Phone with Cooling Arrives in October 2026

RedMagic, the gaming brand under Nubia, has confirmed on its official Weibo profile that the Red Magic 12 Pro+ will arrive in October 2026. This marks the first official confirmation of the timing after months of speculation. Details about the device were also shared by reliable leaker Smart Pikachu, who added technical information beyond what RedMagic itself revealed.

The Red Magic 12 Pro+ will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip in what's being called a "dual chip architecture." The exact meaning of this term hasn't been confirmed yet. What RedMagic actually means by dual chip architecture remains unclear.

It could involve genuinely using two separate chips, but neither the manufacturer nor the leaker has provided further details. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Version, which powers the current RedMagic 11S Pro released in May 2026.

The phone will feature a full-screen display with no notch or punch-hole cutout. The selfie camera will hide beneath the panel, and according to the leaker, it will use a ninth-generation under-display system. Bezels are said to measure just 0.96mm, compared to 1.25mm on the predecessor. That difference sounds modest, but on phones with bezels already this thin, it can be noticeable at first glance.

Cooling combines an active fan (air-based) with a liquid loop. This follows the same approach as the previous model, but this time in a lighter and thinner build. The exact weight hasn't been announced yet, but RedMagic promises a significant reduction compared to the previous generation. Physical shoulder trigger buttons remain a given for this gaming-focused model.

Beyond performance and cooling, the Red Magic 12 Pro+ will bring across-the-board improvements to RGB lighting, the haptic motor, and audio output, according to the leaker. All three elements of the multimedia experience reportedly received upgrades, though specific details haven't been published. The leaker also mentions one more yet-unrevealed feature, referred to simply as "One more thing" a vague promise of a surprise whose content RedMagic has deliberately kept under wraps. Whether it's a hardware addition or something else entirely will become clear in October.

RedMagic has been building out its gaming lineup systematically, and the 12 Pro+ will face strong competition. Upcoming models like the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 are aiming at the same buyers. RedMagic hasn't announced pricing yet. For comparison, the RedMagic 11S Pro launched in China at roughly 5,499 yuan, approximately 774 USD.
