Honor Magic 9 Series Specs Leak Ahead of Tomorrow’s Launch

Honor is just one day away from launching the Magic 9 series, but we may already know almost everything about the three phones.

A new leak has revealed detailed specifications for the Honor Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro Max and Magic 9 Super Edition. Honor has confirmed the September 28 launch in China, but most of these specifications are still leaks.

The standard Magic 9 is expected to use a 6.37-inch flat LTPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It could run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and pack an 8,000mAh battery.

The camera setup looks especially interesting. It may include a 200MP main camera, 200MP periscope telephoto and 50MP ultrawide. The selfie camera is also unusual, with a 55MP square sensor.

Charging could reach 80W wired and 50W wireless.

The Magic 9 Pro Max is expected to use a larger 6.8-inch LTPO display and the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

It could also pack an 8,800mAh battery, with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

The camera hardware gets larger sensors too. The main 200MP sensor is said to measure 1/1.28 inches, while the 200MP periscope could use a 1/1.4-inch sensor. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reader and 3D face unlock are also reportedly included.

The most unusual model is the Magic 9 Super Edition.

It could feature a massive 11,000mAh battery and an active cooling fan. Yet Honor is reportedly keeping the body at just 8.1mm thick.

There are some trade-offs. The phone may use the older Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, an optical fingerprint reader and a simpler camera setup with a 200MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide and 50MP 3x telephoto.

For me, the Super Edition is the one to watch. An 11,000mAh battery in an 8.1mm phone sounds almost too ambitious, so I want to see how Honor has achieved it.

Honor will officially unveil the Magic 9 series on September 28 in China. The company has already confirmed the launch date, MagicOS 11 and its partnership with ARRI for the camera system.

Prices have not been confirmed yet.

If these leaked specifications are accurate, Honor is clearly taking a different approach with each model. The Magic 9 focuses on a compact flagship design, the Pro Max pushes performance and cameras, while the Super Edition goes all-in on battery life.
