iQOO 16 Camera Details Officially Confirmed Ahead of September 29 Launch

The iQOO numbered series has always been more about raw performance than camera experience. However, this seems to be changing with this year's generation. It seems that the iQOO 16 will be quite a camera contender, as iQOO is now confirming several details about its camera hardware and imaging technology. The company has revealed the information ahead of the phone's upcoming launch in China, while additional details about the rest of the camera setup have also surfaced.

iQOO 16 Camera Gets A Major Hardware Upgrade

iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 16 will feature a 50-megapixel main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor. Compared with the iQOO 15, the new sensor is claimed to capture 79% more light, which should help the phone handle difficult lighting conditions more effectively. The main camera will also use iQOO's self-developed Super HDR imaging technology and NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction engine. The company says these technologies improve image processing and preserve more detail across different lighting conditions.

The camera system will also benefit from CIPA 5.5-rated stabilization, which is designed to reduce the effects of hand movement when taking photos and recording video. iQOO says the combination of the larger sensor, improved processing, and stabilization should help the camera retain more detail in bright areas while preserving information in darker parts of an image.

Earlier this month, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that the iQOO 16 would use an OV50Q 50-megapixel primary sensor. The main camera is expected to be joined by a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

This would give the iQOO 16 a more versatile camera setup than a phone focused solely on its primary sensor. The combination of a high-resolution main camera, ultrawide, and periscope telephoto should cover a wider range of shooting scenarios.
