Red Magic 12 Pro+ Confirmed With Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

Red Magic has confirmed a major upgrade for its next gaming phone. The Red Magic 12 Pro+ will use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, putting it among the first smartphones to get the company's most powerful new chip.

The phone is set to launch in October 2026. Red Magic is also changing the design, with a thinner body, rounder edges and much smaller bezels.

Qualcomm has just announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family. Red Magic says the 12 Pro+ will use the higher-end Extreme Gen 6 version.

This is important for a gaming phone. The new platform is built to offer higher performance while also improving power use. Qualcomm says the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family can deliver up to 13% better CPU performance, 44% faster GPU performance and 35% faster NPU performance over the previous generation.

Red Magic has not yet shared the full specifications of the 12 Pro+. So we still do not know its exact CPU setup, memory options or storage versions.

Still, the chip choice is already confirmed.

Performance is not the only change. Red Magic says the 12 Pro+ will be lighter, thinner, narrower and more rounded than the previous model. The company has also reduced the screen bezel from 1.25mm to just 0.96mm.

That may sound like a small change, but it should be easy to notice when holding the phone.

Gaming phones often put a lot of focus on cooling and battery size. That can make them feel large in the hand. Red Magic appears to be trying to fix some of that with this generation. For now, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the main confirmed hardware upgrade. And honestly, that is enough to make the Red Magic 12 Pro+ interesting. The chip should give it plenty of raw power, while the new body could make it more comfortable than previous Red Magic phones.

The big question now is whether Red Magic can combine that thinner design with the huge battery and cooling hardware that gamers expect.
